They have created a highly flexible, foldable, high-performance solution with bandwidth up to 25 Gbps for connecting servers, switches, storage, and other high-speed devices. 3M's SFP28 cable assembly (Series 1422) provides data bandwidth of up to 25 Gbps (1 Gbps x 25 Gbps per channel) in lengths of 2.30 AWG and from 2m to 4.26 AWG.

These components are designed to comply with industry standard protocols defined in IEEE 802.3by, SFF-8431, and 25G Ethernet. In addition, these components have been tested on PlugFest (UNH-IOL) for Open Network System interoperability. These cable components are typically used for data center networking applications or high-performance computing applications that require higher bandwidth.
