Silicon Designs has introduced a series of enhanced design features for its best-selling models, the 2220 series. The company's improvements include the Model 1522 surface-mount accelerometer as the primary sensing element, an enhanced 1-inch square anodized aluminum housing design, and the extension of the overall cable length to 10 feet.
The series MEMS DC accelerometers offer a standard range of ±2g to ±400g, uniaxial, low-noise, and provide reliable, stable, and repeatable AC and DC acceleration measurements in zero-to-intermediate frequency instrument applications. They are particularly effective in applications where there may be large temperature gradients or rapid temperature changes or where extreme heat and cold must be maintained for long periods of time.
In order to provide maximum thermal stability and performance, the internal sensing elements of each device are further individually tested, programmed, calibrated and validated in a climate chamber environment during the manufacturing process. The accelerometer offers a simple four-wire connection with a low impedance output that can drive up to 300 meters of cable. They are small and light, covering just one square inch and weighing just 10 grams. The accelerometer powers +8VDC to +32VDC and provides dual functionality with buffered ±4V differential output and 0.5V to 4.5V single-ended output.
On-board voltage regulation and internal reference voltage eliminate the need for a precision power supply. Each strong anodized aluminum case in the series is canned and then epoxy-sealed, providing accelerometer installation convenience via two screws, adhesive or magnet. Each accelerometer module also includes an initial calibration report.
