A new series of high-speed industrial image sensors that increase production efficiency and quality in factories

Ams introduces the CSG image sensor family to enable manufacturers to develop very high frame rates for industrial vision devices that can achieve higher resolution under the following conditions. The new CSG14K and CSG8K sensors are available in standard 1 "or 1/1.1" optical formats, respectively, enabling plant operators to improve quality while increasing production to better detect defects in high-speed inspection applications.

The CSG14K is a global shutter image sensor that combines a sharp resolution of 13.8Mpixels with high-speed operation: in full resolution 10-bit mode, the sensor can capture images at a stunning 140 frames per second (fps), and in 12-bit mode at 93.6fps. With its full resolution of 8M pixels, the CSG8K achieves higher speeds of 231fps in 10-bit and 155fps in 12-bit mode. Both products are global shutter sensors that perform true correlated double sampling (true-CDS) to capture sharp images of fast-moving objects without motion artifacts

The combination of high speed and high resolution in the standard format makes CSG image sensors ideal for the industrial, security and intelligent Transportation systems (ITS) market, as well as broadcast video applications. In industrial applications such as PCB assembly, the improved image quality and frame rate of CSG sensors enable Automatic Optical inspection (AOI) cameras to detect defects, such as missing or misinstalled electronic components, faster and more reliably than before.

The sensor is versatile and can operate in six modes, including merge mode. When running in line scan or window mode, the effective frame rate may be much higher than the nominal rate specified at full resolution.
