ADI Company launched a micro size power management IC to increase the charging speed of wearable and earworn devices by 4 times

Analog Devices, Inc has introduced the MAX77659 Single Inductor Multiple Output (SIMO) Power Management IC (PMIC), an integrated switch-mode up/down charger that charges wearable, ear mounted, and Internet of Things (IoT) devices faster and in smaller sizes than other Pmics in the current market

     Analog Devices, Inc introduced the MAX77659 Single Inductance Multiple Output (SIMO) Power Management IC (PMIC), which integrates switch mode up/down charger to charge wearable, ear worn and Internet of Things (IoT) devices. It is faster and smaller than other PMICs in the current market. The MAX77659 SIMO PMIC only needs 10 minutes of charging to provide more than 4 hours of life. The device uses a single inductor to power multiple power rails, reducing the bill of materials (BOM) by 60% and the overall plan size by 50%.


     The MAX77659 SIMO PMIC integrated switch mode step-down charger provides three independent programmable step-down regulators that share the same inductor to minimize the overall size of the scheme. The efficiency of the regulator under medium and high load conditions is up to 91%, and the static current under light load conditions is only 5 µ A, thus effectively extending the battery life. The MAX77659 SIMO PMIC supports autonomous margin control to minimize voltage drop and thus reduce heat loss, while providing sufficient margin for regulating charging current.

The MAX77659 PMIC frees up on board space, providing additional features such as storage expansion, location tracking, and vital sign sensing for today's portable and medical device consumers. "
