ADI announces the launch of a multi-protocol Industrial Ethernet switch platform

     Analog Devices launched the multi protocol industrial Ethernet switch platform ADIN2299, which aims to meet the connection requirements in the fields of industrial and process automation, motion control, transportation and energy automation. As a highly integrated and tested solution, ADIN2299 includes communication controller, dual port 10/100Mbps Ethernet switch, memory, physical layer (PHY) and protocol stack, and is suitable for star, linear or ring topology application design. The launch of ADIN2299 hardware, software and pre certified industrial protocols will significantly shorten system integration and time to market.

     In addition to the protocol stack, ADIN2299 also provides RTOS, file systems, drivers, and TCP/IP, effectively reducing design and debugging time. Application processors can be connected to the switch platform through UART, SPI, or Ethernet interfaces. The ADIN2299 software enables application processors to connect to a unified interface, enabling the use of a variety of industrial protocols without changing the application processor software. As a result, the associated learning process is eliminated when other protocols are included. Based on the ADIN2299, customers can support a variety of industrial protocols with a single field equipment hardware design. Another key element of ADIN2299 is network security. It has security boot and security update functions to ensure that only proven code is executed, reducing possible field outages caused by network attacks.

     The ADIN2299 evaluation suite is available for platform evaluation and system development. At present, ADI has provided a set of mature application examples to demonstrate end-to-end, host-to-network and interface-to-controller communication. When the application development board is connected to the ADIN2299 evaluation board via UART, SPI, or Ethernet interfaces, a PLC or controller simulator can be used to evaluate protocol communication. This allows for quick, comprehensive validation before integrating ADIN2299 into a system.
