Analog Devices, Inc introduced the MAX77540 buck converter, which provides a single-stage power conversion solution for applications powered by multiple batteries, such as augmented reality/virtual reality (ARVR) earphones, ground mobile wireless communication (LMR) devices, digital single reflex (DSLR) cameras, etc

     Analog Devices, Inc. (ADI) offers the MAX77540 buck converter, which provides a single-stage power conversion solution for multi-battery powered applications, such as: Augmented reality/virtual reality (ARVR) headsets, ground mobile wireless communication (LMR) devices, digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) cameras, etc. The MAX77540 step-down converter with higher power density has 94% peak efficiency in a wafer level package that is 61% smaller than the size of a traditional square flat pin-less package.

 

     Multi-battery powered products require long battery life and the smallest possible solution size, and such products typically require two-stage power conversion. Most of the traditional solutions are inefficient and directly affect the battery life of the system. For example, the battery voltage is reduced to 5V or lower using a first-stage converter, and then further converted to the system supply voltage using a first-stage step-down. Since this architecture requires an additional converter, which usually requires an external inductor, the scheme is too large and costly.

 

     With the MAX77540, the design engineer can easily build a power converter with two 3A or a single 6A output. The default power-on configuration requires only two external resistance Settings and allows further adjustment through the I2C port, providing advanced power management solutions for users. The external frequency synchronization and spread spectrum modulation functions help to significantly reduce the electromagnetic interference (EMI) of power converters for noise-sensitive applications such as data detection and processing.
