AOS introduces the ideal diode-protected switch with Limited Power (LPS) function

The other day, Alpha and Omega Semiconductor Limited (AOS), a leading supplier of power semiconductor and chip solutions, integrates design, development, production and global sales. Nasdaq :AOSL) introduced its AOZ1390DI-01 and AOZ1390DI-02 Ideal diode protected switches.

     The AOZ1390DI features advanced Limited Power (LPS) capabilities. For multi-port ORing or parallel power applications, the LPSB pins of the AOZ1390DI can be connected to the DISB pins of one or more AOZ1390DI devices on other ports. This LPS function acts as a watchdog to disable another port in the same system when it fails or becomes corrupted. Doing so prevents too much power from flowing through the device from other faulty or damaged ports, so the AOZ1390 is ideal for multi-port Type-C power transmission (PD) applications.

 

     The other day, Alpha and Omega Semiconductor Limited (AOS), a leading supplier of power semiconductor and chip solutions, integrates design, development, production and global sales. Nasdaq :AOSL) introduced its AOZ1390DI-01 and AOZ1390DI-02 Ideal diode protected switches. The new device is particularly suitable for multi-port Type-C PD 3.0 filling current applications up to 100W, such as high-performance laptops, monitors, docking stations and other Type-C port applications.

 

     The AOZ1390DI is designed to improve the efficiency and security of USB Type-C with Power Limiting (LPS) capability. For multi-port ORing or parallel power applications, the LPSB pins of the AOZ1390DI can be connected to the DISB pins of one or more AOZ1390DI devices on other ports. This LPS function acts as a watchdog to disable another port in the same system when it fails or becomes corrupted. Doing so prevents too much power from flowing through the device from other faulty or damaged ports, so the AOZ1390 is ideal for multi-port Type-C power transmission (PD) applications.

 

     Compared to discrete device solutions, the AOZ1390DI provides a significant reduction in voltage drop and power loss, with true reverse current blocking (IDTRCB) protection via an ideal diode against undesirable reverse current from VOUT to VIN. In addition, the integrated back-to-back MOSFETs provide the industry's lowest on-resistance and highest safe working area (SOA) to safely handle high currents and various output capacitors on VOUT. The AOZ1390DI has an input operating voltage range of 3.3V to 23V, and the VIN and VOUT terminals are rated to an absolute maximum of 30V, capable of supporting switching currents up to 8A. The internal soft start circuit controls the inrush current of high capacitance loads, and the external capacitor adjusts the start slope. In addition, it has a wealth of protection features, including input Undervoltage lock (UVLO) and input Overvoltage protection (OVP). FLTB pins are marked for thermal shutdown protection (TSD), short circuit protection (SCP), and overvoltage faults.
