     On January 21, 2021, AVX Corporation, a leading manufacturer and supplier of advanced electronic components as well as interconnect, sensor, control and antenna solutions, unveiled a new line of embedded Wi-Fi antennas designed to meet growing cross-over demands. Market demand for smaller, thinner wireless products with higher signal sensitivity. The new W-Series embedded Wi-Fi antennas offer a variety of standard solutions, including ultra-small size, PCB or FPC antenna technology capable of supporting single - and dual-band operating frequencies up to 6GHz, performance-enhancing foam coatings, and a variety of mounting options to provide maximum design flexibility, ease of implementation, faster time to market, and reliable options.

 

     W-series antenna options include support for 2.4GHz, 5GHz, and 6GHz bands, integrated foam coatings on the back of components to minimize antenna detuning on a variety of surfaces, several different mounting adhesives to ensure material compatibility and maximum placement flexibility, and a variety of cable lengths, diameters, colors, and connectors. Ideal applications include wireless gateways, access points, routers and wide area networks (WLans), smart home systems, industrial machine-to-machine (M2M) communications, digital signage, and a variety of other cross-market devices and devices employing Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and ZigBee communication protocols.

     AVX's new W Series includes three embedded Wi-Fi antenna families: The W1, W2 and W3 series, all weighing only 0.3g, are only 0.4mm in height, support three PCB/FPC thicknesses (0.1mm, 0.4mm and 0.8mm), have 50Ω unbalanced feed point impediments and comply with the latest RoHS directives. All three series offer FPC or PCB antenna technology, three adjustment options (adjustment on plastic walls, foam adjustment on plastic walls, and adjustment on the floor), three adhesive mounting options for compatibility with FPC, PCB or PCB + foam materials, and three standard cable lengths (50mm, 50mm, 50mm). 100mm and 150mm) and diameter (0.81mm, 1.13mm and 1.37mm), with black or grey cable sheathing, and three standard connector options: U.L, W.L or MHF4 connectors in a downward, upward, left or right direction relative to PCB screen printing.
