Allegro MicroSystems introduces the most advanced transmission speed sensor IC

     Allegro MicroSystems announced the introduction of the company's most advanced ASIL B-certified transmission speed sensor family, the A19520, A19530 and A19570. These new magnetic sensor ics are the result of nearly 20 years of industrial application experience and technological advancement. These include advanced Giant Magnetoresistance (GMR) and Hall effect technologies, making the new product ideal for meeting the demanding requirements of today's transmission applications.

     Peter Wells, Senior Director of the Speed Sensor product line at Allegro Microsystems, explains, "Until now, there have been no transmission speed sensors certified through the ISO 26262 design process. We are proud that all three speed sensors improve the safety of transmission systems, and we are excited to bring these new products to market."

     The A19520, A19530, and A19570 magnetic sensor ics measure speed and direction information and have integrated EMC protection capacitors. The sensors also feature Allegro's SolidSpeed Digital Architecture, a ground-breaking mixed-signal architecture that enables the widest dynamic range of the air gap, vibration and rotation differentiation, suppression of stray field effects, and increased adaptive performance.

     Each new product released has a very unique performance. The A19520 offers industry-leading performance and optional output protocols that are compatible with existing transmission designs, using Hall effect technology and a two-wire interface. The A19530 features advanced signal processing, open/short circuit detection, and optional speed or speed/direction output protocols using Hall effect technology and a three-wire interface; The A19570 uses GMR and dual-wire interfaces, which have the same high algorithmic performance as Hall-effect devices, but with significantly larger air gaps and more flexible device mounting directions.
