Allegro MicroSystems redefines magnetic electroflumetry technology

     Allegro MicroSystems (Allegro) announced the introduction of a new high-power current sensor, the ACS37220, and the pre-release of the compact patch packaged magnetic current sensor, the ACS37041. The new Allegro solution improves efficiency and reliability, enhances system protection and enables a smaller bill of materials (BOM) than discrete shunt resistors and operational amplifiers based electroflumetry solutions.

     Traditional shunt solutions require multiple components, take up a lot of board space, and often require more layers of PCBS and heat sinks to maintain acceptable thermal performance. These factors inevitably increase the weight and size, as well as the complexity of the design, often resulting in increased costs and production time.

     Allegro's new sensors offer smaller footprint, higher efficiency and easier integration to address many of today's industry challenges. The ACS37220 is designed to replace high-power sensing resistors and can be used in high-current monitoring applications up to 200A. The ACS37041 features a compact SOT23-W package with high integration for a wide range of electroflumetry applications up to 30A.
