Allegro MicroSystems, a global leader in sensing technology and power semiconductor solutions for motion control and energy saving systems, announced the third product in its high-voltage Power-Thru product family. Allegro's two-chip AHV85000 and AHV85040 isolated gate driver IC solutions work in tandem with external transformers to provide greater design freedom and power efficiency for clean energy applications such as solar inverters, xEV charging infrastructure and energy storage systems (ESS), and data center power supplies.
The new combination chip builds on Allegro's existing Power Thru technology and offers the same technical benefits as Allegro's existing gate drivers, because by moving the isolation transformer from inside the chip to outside, engineers can select the right transformer for their design requirements. As a result, Allegro's latest Power Thru IC offers increased isolation and greater power and layout design flexibility.

The new combined chip isolated gate driver provides additional benefits for applications with different isolation requirements. By further optimizing system cost and space, this industry-leading solution provides greater design flexibility, including the choice of different isolation levels, the transformer best suited to the specific application, and the location of the isolation barriers in the system
