Allegro's A89506 driver has a fault output that can notify the microprocessor of bridge short circuit or overcurrent events

     Allegro's A89506 full bridge grid driver is designed for pulse width modulation (PWM) control of DC motors. They can operate at 50 V and provide gate drive for all N-channel external MOSFET bridges to reduce EMI. The fault output can inform the microprocessor of bridge short circuit or overcurrent events.

     The input terminal controls the speed and direction of the DC motor through externally applied PWM control signals. The built-in synchronous rectification control circuit is used to reduce the power dissipation during PWM operation. Internal circuit protection includes VDS protection, thermal shutdown with hysteresis, under voltage monitoring of VBB and cross current protection.

     A89506 can effectively replace relays and closing systems, and can also be used to drive DC motors and actuators in traditional hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs) and electric vehicles (EVs). They are ideal for applications such as window actuators, electric vehicle charger locks, electronic parking brakes, and folding mirrors.
