     Allegro MicroSystems announced the expansion of its automotive lighting portfolio, with the latest launch of two new products for Advanced Driving Assistance Systems (ADAS). As a unique solution in the market, A80803 can realize smooth high beam/low beam/high beam conversion with a single IC by using multi topology conversion and patented IP. The A80804 linear LED driver can provide higher power for automotive lighting applications through multiple independently configurable channels. Both of these products help designers reduce the number of ICs required to build a higher safety automotive lighting system, thereby achieving higher performance and more compact design at a lower system cost.


     Vehicle lighting plays an important role in ensuring the safety of drivers and passengers. According to a recent study by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the risk of driving at night is three times that of driving in the daytime, and the crash rate of vehicles equipped with IIHS "good" rated headlights will be reduced by nearly 20% compared with those rated "poor". The application of ADAS and the enhanced lighting function can improve the road visibility and vehicle visibility at night, thus significantly reducing the driver's response time, helping to prevent collisions and thus saving lives.


     A80803 is a switch mode constant current controller for high-power LED automotive lighting applications, which can solve many common pain points for headlight designers. Its innovative features enable headlight designers to more easily introduce advanced lighting functions into mainstream vehicles. The A80803's multi topology single ended controller design combines with wide input/output voltage capabilities to provide a common solution for a variety of applications and/or multiple LEDs. SPI based control or EEPROM based line end programming options for independent operation further expand the application potential.


     The A80804 is Allegro's first four channel linear driver for high-power LEDs. In addition to target applications such as DRL/position lights and stop/tail lights, it can also provide lighting designers with more flexibility in the design of popular functions, such as sequential turn signals, animation effects and theater switching. The A80804 does not require switching elements or inductors. Its low EMI helps it meet CISPR25 Class 5 standards. It can also provide a variety of analog and PWM dimming methods, dual brightness mode operation, and can be configured without a microcontroller.


     Mark Gaboriault, Director of Allegro Voltage Regulator and Lighting Product Line, said: "Today's high-end and luxury cars have many comfort and safety features, but it often takes several years to enter the mainstream cars with lower prices, mainly considering the cost of the solution.
