Ames Osram offers 110µm small bore EEL mounting to enhance industrial automation applications

     Ames Osram, the world's leading optical solutions provider, has announced the launch of a small-aperture, compact surface-mounted laser SPL S1L90H_3, adding to its EEL portfolio. The laser provides enhanced performance in lidar and long-range industrial ranging applications and makes optical integration simpler.

     The SPL S1L90H_3 is the first surface-mounted edgeemitting laser with aperture as low as 110µm. The small aperture enables applications to produce a narrow beam. The 905nm infrared technology is optimized for short pulse lidar applications.

     The single-channel SPL S1L90H_3 uses Ames Osram multi-junction technology and consists of three vertically stacked emitters in a single laser strip installed in the device's 2.3mm×2.0mm×0.69mm package, enabling the laser to produce a peak output of 65W.

     These features enable the product to better illuminate target areas from a distance in ranging, 3D optical sensing, and real-time localization and mapping (SLAM) applications, which could play an important role in products such as drones and robotics, as well as construction and factory automation equipment.
