Amphenol SGX Sensortech Solid polymer electrolyte gas sensor

     Amphenol SGX Sensortech Solid polymer Electrolyte gas sensors are designed to detect a wide range of gases including carbon monoxide, chlorine, volatile organic compounds (VOC), as well as humidity and particulate matter. Solid polymer gas sensor is based on the principle of electrochemical catalytic reaction. The sensor responds to the target gas and provides a very small current proportional to the concentration of the gas.

     The SGX solid polymer sensor has a dry core design with three electrodes in contact with the solid electrolyte. Typical electrodes consist of surface areas of precious metals and other materials. As gas diffuses through the back of the porous membrane to the sensor's working electrode, the electrode, the electrolyte, and the surrounding air are in contact. At this working electrode, the gas is oxidized or reduced.
