Ams Osram released the first bat wing beam LED series to make the plant lighting more uniform

     Ams Osram recently launched Oslon Square Batwing, expanding its rich LED product portfolio for plant lighting. Plants need to get a certain amount of light of different wavelengths if they want to grow fast. Greenhouses and indoor farms use special lamps, and red, blue and white LEDs are combined according to the light formula required for plant growth. At present, LED lamps usually use Lambert lens without auxiliary optical devices, or use simple cover glass to make a lot of light gather under the lamp to form a hot spot. This will cause uneven light intensity in each area, leading to unstable harvest. At present, additional lighting devices are generally added to make up for these areas with insufficient lighting. The Oslon Square Batwing provided by Ames Osram can solve this big problem. This optical lighting product has a special shape and helps customers simplify design, such as reducing the number of lighting devices or improving efficiency.

     When it comes to plant lighting, growers often face problems of uneven lighting and spacing ratio. At present, growers try to make up for the lack of lighting by increasing the number of lamps, or accept that some plants get more light than others. This is not a satisfactory solution, because the main goal of growers is to obtain the highest output at the lowest cost. To solve this problem, Ames Osram combines its mature and market leading plant lighting Oslon Square LED with an innovative main optical device.

     The new bat-wing optics provide a special pattern of light radiation that looks like a pair of wings. The beam Angle is 140° wide, and the light is distributed in a rectangular shape, which makes the light distribution more uniform and makes better use of the greenhouse space. The wider Angle range also allows the lamps to be further apart, reducing the number of lighting fixtures. The main bat-wing lens solution can improve system efficiency by 5% compared to lighting systems that use leds and auxiliary bat-wing optics.

     The Oslon Square family is now augmented with four new products, namely ultra-red (660nm), deep blue (450nm), far-red (730nm) and horticultural white Light, covering all wavelengths required for horticultural applications. All products are compact in shape, only 3 mm x 3 mm, and can maintain excellent radiation flux and excellent service life of more than 102,000 hours. In addition, these products offer industry-leading performance values. The ultra-red product provides a light output of 1042 mW at 700 mA with an electro-optic conversion efficiency (WPE) of 74%.
