Ams Semiconductor and Oslang launched the latest two facial recognition infrared LEDs

     Ams Semiconductor and Osram announced the release of two infrared leds (IRED) for 2D facial recognition systems: SFH4171S and SFH4181S.When these two IRDs are used, they will emit infrared light to the user's face and shoot the face from the infrared camera. If the image is matched with the image stored in the system, the device is unlocked. The two products have obvious advantages in size and can realize the ultra -narrow border design of laptop computers, which is also the current trend of laptop computers.

     "With the help of these two infrared leds, we continue to simplify security application integration in laptops, providing manufacturers with new design options for future models," said Bianka Schnabel, Product Manager, ams Semiconductor and Osram Optical Semiconductor. Unlocking a laptop via biometric eliminates the hassle of entering a password, ensuring that users can access their laptop quickly and easily after a break.

     Ams Semiconductor and Osram provide IRED at two wavelengths: SFH4171S at 850 nm and SFH4181S at 940 nm. In the wavelength range of SFH4171S, customers can clearly feel the high sensitivity of infrared camera. SFH4181S, however, avoids the "red exposure" effect visible to human eyes, which is generally required to avoid in consumer electronics applications. Both products come in an extremely compact Oslon P1616 package. Even with the optical lens included, the installation space of the device is only 1.6mm x 1.6mm x 1.71mm. Despite their compact size, the two IRED deliver excellent optical power at 1150mW at 1A and beam intensity at 680mW/sr. Special primary optics condense the beams together at a 35° beam Angle to improve performance and make it easier for infrared cameras to take high-quality images.
