Ams, the world's leading provider of high-performance sensor solutions, has introduced the 4LS series, adding a new faster, higher resolution line-scan image sensor to its broad range of products. Sensors for machine vision applications. Using cameras equipped with 4LS sensors will help operators of the latest smart factories to increase production while maintaining the highest quality control standards.
● The 4LS line scan image sensor operates at speeds of up to 120,000 lines per second
● RGB + Clear sensor channel independent line support full color reproduction; The digital TDI feature provides excellent image quality in dim light
● 4LS supports rigorous quality and process control in the next generation of smart factories
The 4LS image sensor is available in 10K and 15K resolution versions with four red/green/blue/transparent channels and scan speeds of up to 120,000 lines per second. The 4LS series gives system designers the flexibility to meet a variety of application needs. Each of the four lines can be controlled independently and simultaneously for full-color image capture. Camera manufacturers can also implement 4:1 digital TDI (Time delay and integration) to obtain high image quality in low light situations, or to perform high-speed object inspection. In addition, these sensors offer a choice of 8-bit or 12-bit LVDS outputs to provide the most appropriate trade-off between image quality and speed. The complete oil filling options range from 10 ke- to 40 ke- and can be used in a variety of lighting conditions.
The introduction of new faster, higher resolution line scan image sensors provides new opportunities for industrial camera manufacturers and machine vision system developers to add value to their products by achieving higher throughput and more efficient optical inspection in the following applications: Continuous surface and format inspection; Food classification and quality control; Display check; And glass check.
Peter Vandersteegen, Segment Manager at ams, said: "ams has established a strong market position and an enviable reputation in the field of line-scanned image cameras using the ams Dragster sensor. The introduction of the 4LS image sensor now provides designers of line-scan image cameras with a new option to increase scanning speed and support improved full-color image reproduction."
Ams offers 1D / 2D / 3D technology for machine vision
Machine vision has a wide range of applications in factory automation, automatic identification and data capture (AIDC), volume and distance measurement, motion analysis, intelligent transportation systems, and document scanning. In addition to the Dragster and the new 4LS line scan sensor products, ams offers multiple product lines to meet the ongoing demand for a variety of machine vision applications and 1D / 2D / 3D use cases. More recent applications are environmental visions for more complex autonomous and collaborative robots.
"ams is a leader in VCSEL-based illuminators and high-quantum-efficiency NIR image sensors," said Pierre Laboisse, ams Executive vice President of global Sales and Marketing. "The device benefits from accurate 2D, ideally 3D visualization of the environment and objects to be processed. Near-infrared lighting with flooding and high-contrast point illuminators, combined with sensitive NIR image sensors, enables compact, cost-effective high-performance 3D systems that are not subject to uncontrolled lighting conditions."
Compatible interfaces for the camera product family
The 4LS line-scanned image sensor is offered as an on-board chip (CoB) module mounted on a mechanically robust and thermally stable Invar package. The PCB interfaces of the 4LS 10K and 4LS 15K are fully compatible and interchangeable, allowing line scan camera manufacturers to manufacture a range of products with different resolutions.
The new 4LS line scan image sensor has a pixel size of 5.6µm x 5.6µm. The dynamic range is up to 54dB and the quantum efficiency is 61% at 530nm.
Ams continues to offer the Dragster series of line-scanned image sensors, which are available in single - and two-line versions with a resolution range of 2K to 16K.
