     The TMD2755 provides a complete integrated three-in-one sensor solution that simplifies implementation for phone manufacturers, reduces board space requirements and enables a best-in-class thin system design. The TMD2755 combines a low-power VCSEL transmitter (with an integrated, factory-calibrated driver), an infrared photoelectric detector, and an ambient light sensor with a small footprint and a height of just 0.6mm. With a footprint of just 1.1mm x 3.25mm, the new TMD2755 module is 40% smaller than the smallest triad of its kind (IR emitter + IR detector + ambient light sensor) module on the market. The TMD2755 is only 0.6mm tall and 64 percent smaller.

 

     Just as mobile phone manufacturers are expanding their smartphone offerings in response to the changing market economy, ams is reaching this new market sweet spot. By housing proximity and photosensing capabilities in a narrower bezel, the TMD2755 supports phone manufacturers' drives to increase the proportion of the visual display area to the body size, a key factor in enhancing the smartphone's appeal among mid-range consumers. Segment the market.

 

     A common feature of narrow-bezel/large-size display products in this segment is the large air gap between the proximity/light sensor and the protective glass. The TMD2755 is ideal for smartphones where the gap between the display and the edge of the phone is less than 1mm and the sensor is buried deep in the phone, so an "atmospheric gap" solution is required. With the offset alignment of the transmitter/detector, the sensor solution can be placed away from the touch screen glass and optically operated using only a small slit width in the glass.

 

    The device features high proximity crosstalk compensation and supports operation behind highly diffused glass by compensating for harmful reflected crosstalk. It also provides accurate and stable measurements under dark glass in low-light environments. The TMD2755 provides a highly cost-effective solution by eliminating the need for light guides and inserters, as well as the cost of two separate sensors, thereby reducing the total bill of materials cost. In addition, phone manufacturers can easily implement a single optical sensing solution based on the TMD2755 across multiple phone models, reducing development efforts and minimizing the number of SKUs required for inventory.
