The AMS TMF8801 is a true Direct Time of Flight (ToF) sensor system in a single modular package. It provides highly accurate depth precision detection, and measures the round-trip time of the pulse through sub nanosecond optical pulse and anti aliasing stopwatch methods. It also provides a single area detection of an object, regardless of color, reflectivity, or texture of the object.

     The AMS TMF8801 is a true Direct Time of Flight (ToF) sensor system in a single modular package. It provides highly accurate depth precision detection, and measures the round-trip time of the pulse through sub nanosecond optical pulse and anti aliasing stopwatch methods. It also provides a single area detection of an object, regardless of color, reflectivity, or texture of the object.

 

     A single module with a VCSEL transmitter provides high dynamic range and detection sensing measurements from 2cm to 250cm. The equipment uses highly sensitive SPAD detection and fast and compact time to digital converter to enable highly accurate distance measurement within ± 5%, and can operate in dark environment or in the presence of sunlight.


     The built-in histogram is used to detect the cover plate glass, report the distance of objects running at the highest signal-to-noise ratio, and compensate the dirt and smudge pollutants on the product cover plate glass to generate no manual measurement. Histograms provide dynamic cover glass calibration and crosstalk compensation, and minimize background light noise through on-chip anti sunlight filters.

 

     The data is output through the 1.8 V I2C fast mode communication interface, and the integrated microcontroller has the characteristics of all algorithms on the chip, without the need for external optical devices.
