An Intermediate Bus Converter (IBC) designed for AI and ML data center applications

     Flex Power Modules announced the introduction of the BMR316, a high-performance non-isolated, non-regulated DC/DC Intermediate Bus Converter (IBC), tailored for AI and milliliter data center applications that require significant computing power. The compact bmr316 is the best choice for high-power ibc applications where board space is limited.

     The bmr316 has a fixed 4:1 conversion rate, effectively reducing 48v to 12v. It provides a sustained power output of 1 kW and can reach a peak power of 3 kW. The new IBC device has a power density of more than 900 W/cubic centimeter (15 kW/in3) at peak load in a very small package measuring 23.4 x 17.8 x 7.65 mm. It has an input range of 38 to 60 v (peak 68 v) and an output range of 9.5 to 15 v.

     The BMR316 is designed to work with a variety of voltage regulator modules (VRMs) and Point of Load (PoL) converters to convert the intermediate bus into the core voltage required for data communications and AI data centers. These environments require optimized energy efficiency, efficient use of board space, and management of peak power.

     With a maximum efficiency of 97.7% at half load, the bmr316 improves cooling performance by minimizing thermal demand. Its low-key design makes it suitable for cold wall mounting or direct chip liquid cooling solutions.
