Analog Devices 16 bit I2C sensor for environmental control and thermal protection

     ADI's ADT7310 and ADT7410 are high precision digital temperature sensors. They contain a band gap temperature reference and an ADC for monitoring and digitizing temperature. By default, ADC resolution is set to 13 bits (+0.0625°C). By setting bit 7 in the configuration register, this resolution becomes 16 bits (+0.0078°C).

     The ADT7310 and ADT7410 are guaranteed to operate at a supply voltage of 2.7V to 5.5V. Operating at 3.3V, the average supply current is usually 210μA. These sensors have a shutdown mode that shuts down the device and provides a shutdown current, typically 2μa. They are rated to operate in the temperature range -55°C to +150°C. The CT pin is an open leak output that becomes active when the temperature exceeds a programmable critical temperature limit. The default critical temperature limit is +147°C.

     The INT pin is also an open drain output that becomes active when the temperature exceeds the programmable limit. INT and CT pins can operate in comparator or interrupt mode. The ADT7310/ADT7410 is ideal for medical devices, environmental control systems and thermal protection applications.
