Analog Devices' AD8307 is a logarithmic amplifier in 8-PDIP and 8-SOIC packages. These amplifiers can withstand voltage inputs ranging from 2.7V to 5.5V, requiring a very low current of 7.5mA. The fast action cmos compatible control pins can keep the amplifier in standby mode with extremely low 150μA current. The AD8307 is ideal for signal level conversion in decibel form for radar, and multimeter applications.

The AD8307 is the first logarithmic amplifier in an 8-pin SOIC_N package. It is a complete 500 MHz monolithic demodulated logarithmic amplifier based on progressive compression (continuous detection) techniques that provides dynamic range rule consistency of 92 dB to ±3 dB and tight ±1 dB error limit of 88 dB to 100 MHz at all frequencies.

The AD8307 is very stable and easy to use, requiring no significant external components. A single supply voltage of 2.7V to 5.5V is required at 7.5 mA. The fast acting cmos compatible control pin enables the AD8307 to have a standby current of 150 μA. The AD8307 operates in the temperature range −40°C to +85°C and is available in an 8-pin SOIC package and 8-pin PDIP.
