Analog Devices Introduces Complete Radio Platform Supporting 5G O-RAN Ecosystem

Analog Devices, Inc. has introduced an ASIC-based radio platform designed for O-RAN compliant 5G radio units, designed to reduce time-to-market and meet the evolving needs of 5G networks. The O-RAN ecosystem uses open standards to decompose legacy networks, enabling greater flexibility and more functionality across carrier networks.

     Analog Devices, Inc. introduces an ASIC-based radio platform designed for O-RAN compliant 5G radio units to reduce time to market and meet the evolving needs of 5G networks. The O-RAN ecosystem uses open standards to disaggregate legacy networks, enabling greater flexibility and functionality across operator networks.

 

     ADI's radio platform contains all the core functions required for an O-RAN-compliant 5G radio unit, including baseband ASICs, software-defined transceivers, signal processing and power supplies. This advanced radio platform is designed to significantly improve performance and form factor to meet the tough power and cost challenges that next-generation networks will face, while reducing customer design cycles.

 

     "O-RAN uses open standards to reimagine network architectures in hopes of disrupting traditional markets, and this requires comprehensive and innovative RF solutions," said Joe Barry, vice president of the Wireless Communications Group at Analog Devices. "ADI's innovative O-RAN solutions are 5G applications provide a performance-optimized radio platform and represent a major step forward for the ecosystem."

 

     O-RAN will gradually remove barriers to entry and provide new opportunities for current and emerging wireless providers. ADI interacts and collaborates directly with ecosystem participants to optimize overall system efficiency, ensure interoperability, and further advance industry technology.
