Analog Devices introduces a new generation of 16 to 24 bit ultra-high precision successive approximation register ADC

Analog Devices, Inc has introduced a new family of 16 - to 24-bit ultra-precision successive approximation register (SAR) analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) that simplify the design of complex ADCs in instrumentation, industrial and healthcare applications

     Analog Devices, Inc. introduced a new generation of 16 to 24 bit ultra-high precision successive approximation register (SAR) analog-to-digital converter (ADC) series products, which can simplify the complex ADC design in instrumentation, industrial and medical health applications. The new high-performance SAR ADC series uses Easy Drive patented by ADI  The technology and the universal Flex SPI serial peripheral interface (SPI) solve the system design challenges and expand the selection range of directly compatible supporting products

 

     ADI's Easy Drive technology eliminates many traditional system level design challenges while maintaining device performance, such as strict layout guidelines and digital interface timing requirements, as well as complex supporting product selection. The universal Flex SPI digital interface provides easy to meet timing requirements, simplifying the integration of host processors and ADC. The combination of high performance and this re conceived digital interface provides a better overall design experience, and also speeds up the system design cycle.

 

     Among the six pin compatible SAR ADC products in this series, the first is the 24 bit dual channel synchronous sampling, 2 Msps per channel AD4630-24, which has a leading accuracy (INL) rating of 0.9 ppm, four times higher than other solutions. The AD4630-24 integrates the reference buffer and all key decoupling elements into a single chip, which increases the density by 2 times compared with other solutions.

 

     Ray Goggin, general manager of electronic testing and measurement department of ADI, said: "The combination of performance and speed will bring more accurate and stable digital control loop, which can be stabilized at its final set point with lower delay. The ADC series reflects the technological evolution of ADI, which further simplifies the process of design and evaluation, and can bring CNC precision instrument products to the market faster."
