Analog Devices introduces the automotive industry's first wireless battery management system for electric vehicles

     Analog Devices' wireless BMS eliminates the need for traditional wiring harnesses, saves up to 90% of wiring harnesses and up to 15% of battery pack volume, and improves design flexibility and manufacturability without compromising mileage and accuracy over the battery life.

     Analog Devices' Wireless BMS combines all integrated circuits, hardware and software - power, battery management, RF communications and system functions - in a single system-level product, enabling ASIL-D security and module-level security with Analog Devices' proven, industry-leading BMS cell measurement technology. By increasing accuracy over the life of the vehicle, the wireless BMS system maximizes the energy utilization of individual cells, resulting in excellent vehicle range and supporting safe and sustainable cobalt-free battery chemicals such as lithium iron phosphate (LFP).

     Additional system features enable the battery to measure and report its own performance, improve early fault detection, and optimize battery pack assembly. Remote data monitoring is possible throughout the battery life cycle, from battery assembly through storage and transportation, to installation, maintenance and cascade utilization.

     Analog Devices and General Motors recently announced a partnership to bring wireless BMS technology to General Motors' Ultium battery platform. ADI's wireless BMS technology helps extend the Ultium platform to GM's future models, including different subbrands and vehicle segments, from trucks to performance cars.
