Artesyn Embedded Power introduces rack power to the Open Rack Standard (Version 3)

     Advanced Energy announced the introduction of a new rack-mount Power supply from its Artesyn Embedded Power Products division that complies with the Open Compute Project Open Rack Standard Version 3 (OCP ORv3). The feature is to ensure that the legacy rack system architecture of the existing data center can introduce 48V power.

     Server racks in data centers have always used 12V rack power, but as the performance of computing and storage platforms continues to improve, the power required is also greater, and the traffic volume is also rising. If the input power supply is changed from 12V to 48V, the current flow can be reduced to the equivalent of 1/4 of the previous, and the conduction loss is reduced to 1/16 of the previous. This not only greatly reduces heat dissipation and improves energy efficiency, but also enables the use of smaller busbars.

     Advanced Energy's Atson Technology Products division has been working with and with the support of major OCP users to successfully develop this industry-standard power system platform. When we conceived this new design, we hoped to create a common power system platform that would allow different customers to deploy different products, ensure more widespread use of the platform, and benefit the entire OCP user base through economies of scale.

     At present, more and more hyperscale data centers introduce 48V rack-mounted power supply architecture. In this upgrading process, the new OCP ORv3 rack-mounted power supply from ATsen Technology plays an important driving role. The embedded power supply market for data center computing devices has been growing rapidly and now totals $1.9 billion, and ATson's rack-mounted power solutions are one of the major products in this market. Due to the soaring volume and usage of data, coupled with more and more enterprise information systems to rely on cloud services, and artificial intelligence and machine learning applications to increase the load of the system, the rack-mounted power supply market for data center computing equipment is growing.
