Artesyn Embedded Technologies adds several new models of industrial DC/DC power converters down to 3W

     Artesyn Embedded Technologies has announced the availability of several new models of DC/DC power converters for a wide range of low-power electronics, some of the company's lowest power outputs to date. It is most suitable for data communication equipment, telecommunication systems and computer peripherals, automated production systems and battery-powered mobile devices. Atson's new ATA Series 3W isolated DC/DC power converters are available in 16 different models, each available in two packages, including a mini dual in-line package for pin insertion and another mini surface mount package.

     The various power converters in the ATA series have an extremely wide 4:1 input, with 8 models for the input voltage range from 9V to 36V, and another 8 models for the input voltage range from 18V to 75V. There are also five single-output models in both categories offering 3.3V, 5V, 12V, 15V or 24V outputs, and three dual-output models offering +5V/-5V, +12V/-12V or +15V/-15V outputs.

     This series of power converters is housed in a fully sealed, ultra-small plastic case that measures just 0.94 x 0.54 inches (24mm x 13.7mm) and is only 0.32 inches (8mm) tall. Models in surface mount packages can operate at ambient temperatures from -40 to 80 degrees Celsius, while versions in pin-in packages are suitable for temperatures from -40 to 85 degrees Celsius, and both versions can operate derated. With a conversion efficiency of up to 80%, this series of power converters reduces the number of external EMI filters necessary due to the fixed switching frequency of 350kHz. In addition, this series of power converters comply with the conducted noise requirements of EN55022 Class A and FCC Level A standards.

     Atson ATA Series power converters with output voltage of 5V or above can provide rated output power of 3W; The other four models, which also have an output voltage of 3.3V, offer a rated output power of 2W. Other standard features include 1,500Vdc input/output isolation, remote on/off, and continuous protection against output short circuits (hiccup mode).
