Artesyn Embedded Technologies announced the launch of the first high-performance, highly integrated computing system conceived and designed in accordance with Open Computing Project (OCP) standards. With the introduction of the Atson OCP platform, communication service providers can adopt hardware and software that supports open standards and open source code, as well as take full advantage of virtualization and cloud computing technologies, in order to significantly reduce the capital and operating expenses of the network business. The new OCP platform is basically a rack-mounted solution that integrates different components such as servers, storage systems, and on-rack switches. In terms of density, availability, flexibility and scalability, this platform is superior to traditional rack-mounted servers and is easier to maintain, manage and deploy.
Artesyn Embedded Technologies' OCP platform is a platform that makes it easy for vendors to develop Network Function virtualization (NFV) applications using software-defined networking (SDN) technology and deploy NFV pilot programs. The platform is compatible with Atsen's Centellis virtualization platform, which uses largely field-proven software architecture to support Network Function Virtualization (NFV) software, allowing communications service providers to deploy different applications using a common software platform. And no matter which hardware they use, it will not be affected.
Doug Sandy, Technical Director, Artesyn Embedded Technologies, said: "Our findings show that communications service providers are skeptical that Open Compute Projects (OCP) and other off-the-shelf (COTS) technologies on the market really meet their requirements. To this end, Atsen has been working closely with customers on technology, and actively participates in industry organizations, hoping to share our years of experience in developing telecommunications architecture solutions with the industry through organizations such as the Open Compute Project (OCP) and the European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI). Let them know that Atsen has been working to develop innovative architectures to ensure that the communication network can introduce the next generation of OCP technology. "Artesyn Embedded Technologies is introducing a new OCP platform that enables network operators to take advantage of OCP solutions optimized for the specific requirements of network devices."
