Bourns Introduces New AEC-Q200 Qualified High Power Current Sense Resistors

     Bourns, a world-renowned leading manufacturer of electronic components, has added nine new AEC-Q200 compliant CSM2F high-power current sense resistor series. Not only efficient, reliable, and cost-effective, Bourns' products are accurate measurement solutions designed for battery management systems (BMS), industrial control, and other high-current applications.

     Compared to other product technologies in the industry, Bourns current-sense resistors are gaining popularity due to their high measurement accuracy and relatively low cost. These resistors detect current and convert it into an easily measurable voltage that correlates with the flow through the device. The current of the device is proportional.

     The Bourns CSM2F series is available in four different package sizes: 6918, 8518, 7036 and the new 8536 metric size, and introduces two new terminal finishes - two new finish styles for fully plated electrodes and bare copper electrodes. The new "fully plated" models are stamped and then tinned to create a protective layer that provides enhanced performance, long-term stability and lower resistance drift after benefiting from load life testing. The "bare copper" version is constructed without tin plating to enhance TCR performance, and the copper terminals are covered with a protective layer that helps extend the life of the resistor.

     Bourns' newly expanded CSM2F model family features resistance values from 25 microohms to as high as 200 microohms, power ratings up to 50 watts, continuous current of 1414 amps, and high pulse power handling capability. Manufactured using Electron Beam (E-Beam) welding of resistive copper alloys, the metal alloy current sensing components provide thermal EMF as low as 0.25 µV/K and 50 PPM/K over a temperature range of 20°C to 60°C °C low TCR.
