Bourns has announced the addition of its MF-RG Radial through-hole PPTC returnable fuses

     Bourns Inc. 's multi-fuse product line has introduced a new series of component numbers for the MF-RG product line of radial through-hole polymer positive temperature coefficient (PPTC) returnable fuses. The MF-RG product family provides circuit protection solutions for applications in the automotive, data server and industrial electronics industries. The addition of eight new models will now extend the maximum operating current of the MF-RG series from 3a to 11a.

     The MF-RG product is rated for a maximum operating voltage (V(RMS)) of 16v and shows high current carrying capacity. Compared with the existing through-hole products (MF-R, MF-RX) in the multi-melting point polymer PTC product portfolio, the main feature of the MF-RG series is the reduction in product size. The smaller size saves space. In addition, the smaller size reduces the thermal mass of the product, leading to faster circuit protection solutions.

     The second feature is the tighter hold-to-travel ratio of the product range. This enables design engineers to use devices that run more closely to the failure current of the application, further improving the speed of response to overcurrent events. MF-RG multi-fuse PPTC products are manufactured at TS16949 Certified factory in Bourns, Xiamen, China. They meet RoHS, UL approved safety requirements and compliance standards for AEC-Q200 passive components.
