Bourns introduces a range of high clearance/creepage distance isolated power transformers

Bourns has introduced its new family of high clearance/creepage distance isolated power transformers. The Bourns HCT series high voltage isolated push-pull transformers comply with AEC-Q200 standards. Bourns has designed the latest series of transformers that support isolated interface power supplies for CAN, RS-485, RS-422, RS-232, SPI, I2C and low power Lans.

     Bourns has introduced its new family of high clearance/creepage distance isolated power transformers. The Bourns HCT series high voltage isolated push-pull transformers comply with AEC-Q200 standards. Bourns has designed the latest series of transformers that support isolated interface power supplies for CAN, RS-485, RS-422, RS-232, SPI, I2C and low power Lans.

 

     Solutions that simplify isolated interface power supplies are required in a wide range of applications, including those designed to meet Industry 4.0 and low - and medium-risk medical  sensors, communications physics, and metrology. The features of the Bourns Model HCT series are also an ideal solution for circuits that require low DC power and any applications that require isolation from potentially hazardous voltages, such as high-voltage batteries.

 

     The Bourns Model HCT series has an input range of 3.3 to 5 V and offers outputs of 3.3 to 15 V and up to 350 mA, configured in a variety of turn ratios. The new series uses a ferrite ring core with high coupling coefficient and high efficiency. In addition, the new power transformer is installed in a low-profile 6.5 mm housing with reinforced insulation, a minimum 8 mm clearance/creepage distance and a 4.2 kVac withstand voltage for increased isolation from high-voltage hazards.

 

     Designed for isolated power supplies using Texas Instruments SN6501 and SN6505B transformer drivers, the HCT series transformers are compatible with spread spectrum modulation to reduce emissions and comply with IEC 60950-1, IEC 62368-1, IEC 60664-1 and AEC-Q200 standards.
