Bourns introduces chip LAN 10/100 Base-T transformer module

     Bourns has introduced the new Chip LAN 10/100 Base-T transformer module to help Ethernet - and LAN-based application developers save valuable circuit boards while meeting dynamic data line requirements, saving space and increasing design flexibility.

     The new transformer integrates two SM453229-381N7Y type chip LAN transformers and two SRF2012A-801Y type common mode chip inductors that are assembled on a PCB with a black metal shield. This new model provides customers with a simplified assembly solution that is pin-to-pin compatible with traditional potted LAN transformers and offers excellent coplanarity. Designers also have the flexibility to use transformers or common mode chokes alone, providing more freedom of PCB placement.

     The Bourns Model SM41126EL is manufactured using a fully automated high-volume process to provide a consistent, highly reliable and cost-effective solution. The automated coil winding process is particularly important because it ensures the tight tolerances necessary for electrical stability. This stability improves performance over a wider frequency range compared to manual winding processes. The thin, small-size module has an extended temperature range of -40 to +85°C and is fully IEEE 802.3 compliant, making it ideal for use in LAN interfaces for a variety of telecommunications and networking devices.
