
Bourns has announced the addition of nine new families to its SRP series of power inductor lines. These new SRP inductors are designed to meet high current and low radiation requirements. Burns' latest inductors have a coil made of either round or flat metal wire wound and molded entirely from an iron based magnetic metal alloy with a powder core. This structure offers magnetic shielding, high current capability, compact scale, low noise and excellent temperature stability.
The Bourns models SRP1040VA and SRP6300VA inductors are made with a new metal alloy powder formula and round enamelled copper wire. The company's innovative metal alloy powder formulations increase operating temperatures by 180°C (including self-heating). This makes these AEC-Q200 compatible inductors ideal for many high-temperature environments and high-reliability designs, including LED lighting, DC/DC converters, and power supplies. The inductance ratings provided range from 0.47 to 22μH.
The Bourns model SRP4018FA series is also AEC-Q200 compliant and uses flat enamel-coated copper wire as a self-lead terminal construction to provide extremely low DC resistance. Providing a lower DC resistance means that the inductor consumes less power during operation, especially at higher current and switching frequencies, allowing DC/DC converters to achieve greater power efficiency. The inductance range of this model family is 0.33-1.2μH and the operating temperature range is -55 to +155°C. Because the SRP4018FA series meets the AEC-Q200 standard, it is the best choice for a wide range of applications requiring high power efficiency and higher reliability.
In addition, the SRP1245C, SRP1265C, SRP3012C, SRP3020C, SRP5020C and SRP5030C models offer high inductance options based on their round enameled copper wire construction. These models are commercial-grade and provide Oems with a cost-effective solution for high-volume consumer electronics applications when AEC-Q200 compliant inductors are not required. These models have an inductance range of 0.1-33μH and an operating temperature range of -40 to +125°C.
