Bridgetek announces the ME817EV Evaluation Board. With the company's BT817 Embedded Video Engine (EVE) device, engineers can try out the latest generation of EVE technology and fully understand the breadth of its capabilities. Since the BT817 supports higher resolution and large display size, it is possible to create a more attractive and feature-rich HMI with higher visual clarity and enhanced video playback capabilities.
To help with the initial development and prototyping of the Human Machine interface (HMI) based on its object-oriented graphics controller IC, Bridgetek announced the ME817EV evaluation Board.
Measuring 165mm x 100mm, the ME817EV unit has all the necessary attributes needed to carry out development work related to HMI graphics, audio and touch elements. In addition to audio amplification and multistage audio filtering capabilities, there is an LED driver that can be used to adjust the display's backlight. Also included is a touch controller that supports 5 simultaneous touch points, and 16MB of on-board flash memory resources for storing Unicode fonts, image libraries, and more.
The ME817EV can interface with large-scale, high-resolution display modules. For a 1280x800 pixel display, it can be connected via a 40-pin LVDS interface, while for a 1024x600 pixel display, a 50-pin RGB interface can be used. Capacitive touch screens can be connected using a 10-pin or 6-pin FPC connector. The board can be powered via a 5V power supply or a USB Type C port using an SPI host connector.
As Fred Dart, founder and CEO of Bridgetek, explains; "We are already seeing significant commercial traction for our fourth-generation EVE chips across a wide range of industries. Clearly, there is a real need for a more simplified approach to building Hmis in larger formats. By providing this evaluation platform, we make it faster and easier for engineers to complete the entire project development process and achieve a better end result."
