Broadcom optical power converters, including the AFBR-POCxxxL, AFBR-POC306A1 and AFBR-POCx04L product families, convert optical power into electrical energy for applications that require complete electrical isolation in demanding industrial environments. Due to high voltage, electromagnetic induction or strong magnetic fields, this device is ideal for powering electronic circuits.
AFBR-POCxxxL is a multi-junction compound semiconductor device that provides an operating voltage for typical 3VDC or 5VDC applications, depending on the chip architecture chosen. Typically, over the operating temperature range of -40°C to +85°C, 600mW of power can be provided by converting 1.5W (CW) of optical input power. Intelligent hot configuration simplifies system integration. AFBR-POCxxxL is optimized for effective coupling of MM fibers with commonly used NA. All products are equipped with industry standard ST or FC connectors.
The AFBR-POCx04L optical power converter offers a typical output voltage level of 4.3V, supporting most 3VDC applications. The AFBR-POCx06L converter supports most 5VDC applications by providing a typical output voltage level of 6.5V. By converting the optical input power provided by a high-power laser diode on the fiber, up to 3 watts of power can be provided. The optical power converter has an approximately linear response to the optical input over a wide temperature range.
