C&K introduces a compact side-start touch switch for portable devices

     C&K, a leading manufacturer of high-reliability electromechanical switches, has added two new compact touch switches to its comprehensive PTS range. Ideal for portable electronics in a wide range of markets, the newly designed PTS845 and PTS850 series side start touch switches give designers even more options for designing the final product. This rugged, ultra-thin SMT switch is commonly used in portable devices including headsets, sports watches, health monitoring devices, Bluetooth accessories, black boxes and navigation.

     The small PTS845 series measures only 4.5mm x 3.4mm x 3.3mm and comes in three standard starting forces. Meets customer needs and simplifies integration. The PTS845 series includes 80gf, 160gf and 260gf versions. The ultra-thin PTS850 series is similarly compact in size, measuring only 5.4mm x 5.0mm x 1.8mm, with two standard starting forces. The PTS850 series includes 180 gf and 350 gf versions.

     These SMT touch switches can be fully integrated into reflow soldering standard processes, saving time and costs for Oems. The support and pin design of the PTS845 eliminates the need for additional cost and integration of pins to achieve high welding strength. The boss design of the PTS850 helps customers to easily position the switch onto the PCB before welding.
