C&K introduces two new subminiature touch switches

     C&K, a leading manufacturer of high-quality electromechanical switches, has launched two new ultra-small touch switches (PTS636 and PTS526) aimed at design engineers developing home automation and Internet of Things (IoT) electronics. As printed circuit board (PCB) space becomes increasingly precious in consumer electronics devices, these C&K ultra-compact switching solutions respond to the growing demand for high-quality and cost-effective switches in mass production.

     PTS636 switch occupies an area of 6.0 x 3.5mm, there are three thicknesses of 2.5, 4.3 and 5.0 mm adjustable; The PTS526 occupies an area of only 5.2 x 5.2 mm and has an adjustable thickness range of 0.8 mm to 2.0 mm, allowing electronics designers to add other components to the space originally reserved for larger size switches on the printed circuit board. Both switches have a large starting surface for easy integration, making them ideal for applications such as home automation, Internet of Things (IoT) devices and e-cigarettes, as well as for control systems such as drones, electric bicycles and robotic vacuum cleaners.

     The surface mount technology (SMT) of the PTS526 and PTS636 switches (with additional through-hole technology for the PTS636) and a hard starter ensure full integration into standard processes without the need for additional interface buttons, helping end equipment manufacturers save time and money. Both products offer the best performance, with a reliable service life of up to 500,000 switches.

     "Based on the most commonly used versions on the market, C&K designed these two market-standard switches to meet the needs of a large number of commercial applications that do not require ultra-high performance, but maintain strict quality control while guaranteeing an economical price," said Jerome Smolinski, Global Product (Touch Switch) Manager at C&K.

     The PTS636 design includes a 2.5mm height version with an integrated grounding pin, while the PTS526 design includes a version with an integrated grounding pin. Electrostatic protection soldered to the printed circuit board easily dredges unnecessary electrical overloads.

     The PTS636 has four different operating force levels, 130gf, 180gf, 250gf and 320gf, while the PTS526 has three starting force levels, 160gf, 260gf and 320gf. The rated current of both sets of switches is 50mA, the bounce time is not more than 10ms, and the operating temperature is -20 to +70℃.
