CSR further expands the dual-mode BlueCore platform with Turnkey system chips for Bluetooth modules and embedded iot systems

CSR Corporation announced the launch of the dual-mode system-on-chip (SoC)BlueCore CSRB5348. The comprehensive new Bluetooth Smart platform provides a powerful, flexible and cost-effective solution that is ideal for developing the next generation of embedded systems and modules. The configurable SoC can also be used to develop a variety of emerging iot applications that require Bluetooth and Bluetooth Smart Ready capabilities.

The industrial-application temperature-rated SoC is part of the BlueCore CSRB534x family, which includes an embedded Bluetooth 4.1-compatible RF, 80MHz RISC MCU, 40MHz DSP, USB charger and multiple I/ OS. It features highly integrated packaging that significantly reduces the cost of material (BOM) and optimizes design flexibility to meet the design needs of a variety of applications, including industrial and home automation, EPOS, data loggers, barcode scanners, metering devices, and systems such as keyboards that require large interfaces.

Highly integrated design for low cost development

The CSRB5348 integrates microcontrollers, battery chargers, and many analog and power management functions into a single platform, significantly reducing material costs and saving space. With its dual-mode Bluetooth capability, the platform is easy to develop and extremely cost effective.

Optimized battery life with ultra-low power consumption

The CSRB5348 is a Bluetooth Smart4.1 compliant product that is ideal for devices that require both traditional and new low power functions, such as keyboards, while ensuring the best battery life for consumers. The platform uses a high performance baseband, thus ensuring minimum system-level power consumption and achieving optimal performance with minimal development effort.

Rich peripherals for flexible design

The new platform is equipped with 22 fully configurable digital and analog I/ OS each for a flexible design. It also features embedded USB battery charging for lithium batteries, embedded ROM, RAM, and serial flash interface storage expansion, providing manufacturers with greater flexibility and a premium development environment to develop feature-rich and differentiated designs, whether they are developing medical devices, connected stylus, or industrial automation solutions.

Tools to speed up time-to-market

To help developers accelerate time to market, CSR has also introduced a dedicated Software development Kit (SDK) and development board for the CSRB534x family of products to accelerate evaluation and system development. The CSRB534x SDK is easy to use, making it easy for developers to quickly develop a variety of wireless devices using the new platform. The SDK supports SPP and GATT protocols, as well as flexible data transfer methods such as GATT HID, and is compatible with MFi® 4.0 extended devices, Android and PC devices.
