Ceva, a global leader in IP licensing of semiconductor products and software that helps smart edge devices connect, sense and infer data more reliably and efficiently, has introduced its latest high-performance baseband vector DSP for advanced 5G and 6G-ready applications. These new DSPS are based on the successful Ceva-XC20 architecture and have been designed by two Tier-1 infrastructure Oems for advanced 5G-advanced and pre-6G processors, enabling faster and more efficient data processing.
Reduce latency and improve throughput. Both new DSPS support artificial intelligence, allowing customers to apply machine learning to optimize modem algorithm performance and network efficiency for user equipment (UE) and infrastructure, and to design them to adapt to evolving wireless standards in the future.
The Ceva-XC21 5G IoT DSP is designed for low power, cost and size optimized cellular iot modems, NTN VSAT terminals, eMBB and uRLLC applications. The Ceva-XC21, a successor to the widely adopted Ceva-XC4500 DSP, is up to 48% smaller in volume than the Ceva-XC4500 and occupies only 63% of the Ceva-XC4500 while maintaining the same performance.
The Ceva-XC23 DSP is targeted for regenerative NTN satellite payloads, high-end user equipment (UE) and infrastructure baseband processing, including baseband units (BBUS), distributed units (DU) and radio units (RU). It offers 2.4 times better performance and 2.3 times better efficiency than the Ceva-XC4500, providing superior performance for 5G-enhanced versions and pre-6G applications.
Guy Keshet, Vice President and General manager of Ceva's Mobile Broadband Business unit, said: "Our latest vector DSPS mark a major leap forward in performance and efficiency for advanced 5G and 6G applications, and these new DSPS build on the success of Ceva's industry-leading CEVA-XC4500, which has already enabled hundreds of millions of devices. Provides a future-proof platform for developing the next generation of efficient modems and infrastructure ASics. With AI support and programmability, these DSPS not only improve modem performance, but also support advanced AI and machine learning workloads, providing optimal network performance and efficiency to steadily move toward 6G applications."
The Ceva-XC21 and Ceva-XC23 DSPS are built on a scalable, multi-threaded Ceva-XC20 architecture that delivers optimized cost, power, performance and cost-power-performance combinations for their respective end markets.
