Complete DDR, DDR2, DDR3, DDR3L, LPDDR3 and DDR4 power solutions for synchronous step-down controller, 3-A LDO, and buffer reference

     The TPS51116 provides complete power supplies for DDR/ SL-2, DDR2/ SL-18, DDR3/ SL-15, DDR3L, LPDDR3, and DDR4 storage systems. It integrates a synchronous step-down controller with a 3-A sink/source tracking linear regulator and buffered low noise reference. This device provides the lowest total solution cost in systems where space is scarce.

     The Sync controller operates at a fixed 400 kHz, pseudo-constant frequency PWM with adaptive just-in-time control and can be configured in DCAP™ mode for ease of use and fastest transient response, or in current mode to support ceramic output capacitors. The 3-A receiver/source LDO requires only a 20 μF (2 × 10 μF) ceramic output capacitor to maintain a fast transient response. In addition, the LDO power input can be obtained externally to significantly reduce the total power loss.

     The device supports all sleep state controls, placing VTT at high z in S3 (mounted as RAM), and releasing VDDQ, VTT, and VTTREF in S4/S5 (mounted to disk). The device has all protection features including hot shutdown and is available in a 20-pin HTSSOP PowerPAD™ package and 24-pin 4 x 4 QFN.
