Ams OSRAM and Pioneer 3D, the world's leading technology innovator in the field of 3D vision, today announced that Pioneer 3D's Einstar universal handheld 3D scanner uses the AMS OSRAM OSLON® Black series of small high-power infrared leds to provide high efficiency, low energy consumption and highly reliable auxiliary lighting for handheld scanners. The SFH 4726AS infrared LED is small in size and easier to integrate with a single LED, further meeting the needs of space-constrained applications.
Einstar is a highly cost-effective and popular handheld 3D scanner independently developed by First 3D based on years of 3D vision technology accumulation and market demand. Despite its small size, it has a full range of functions. Multiple infrared SFH 4726AS leds are built into the Einstar to provide a strong and stable light output for the scanner. The minimum point distance of its 3D point cloud data can reach 0.1mm, which can restore the three-dimensional shape of the real object in high-definition and fine. At the same time, equipped with a professional texture camera, can truly restore the object color information. SFH 4726AS LED uses infrared invisible light, which is safer and more comfortable when projecting, and will not cause damage to the human eye. In addition, the intelligent fill light setting allows the user to freely choose on/off fill light, to avoid the impact of the stroboscopic side note of the light source, and truly achieve the invisible scanning effect.
Ams OSram's SFH 4726AS infrared LED enables the compact design of handheld 3D scanners. This infrared LED uses only 3.75×3.75mm transparent silicone package, plus chip stacking technology, one SFH 4726AS can replace many ordinary medium power infrared leds, greatly saving the design space of scanning equipment. The SFH 4726AS provides an efficient infrared light source with radiation intensities ranging from 224mW/sr to 450mW/sr while maintaining low thermal resistance (up to 9K/W), ensuring high performance and reliability. In addition, the product is optimized for high-brightness DC operation with forward voltages between 2.8V and 3.2V, guaranteeing stability and efficiency in different application environments.
The SFH 4726AS is part of the OSLON® Black family and is available in both 920nm and 940nm wavelengths to suit different application requirements. It is widely used in various application scenarios requiring high-performance infrared light sources such as body tracking, medical lighting, home and building automation, factory/industrial automation, identity verification, access control and security. "The SFH 4726AS in the OSLON® Black series adds new strength to this series with its compact package and superior optical output performance." Monica Xiong, Infrared Marketing Manager, AMS OSram Business line, commented: "This LED will provide customers with significant advantages in terms of application flexibility, energy efficiency, safety and long-term reliability while maintaining high performance."
Wang Wenbin, director of 3D Digital Research and Development Department, said: "In 3D scanning technology, the requirements for lighting are extremely strict, which not only requires a small and portable size, but also requires efficient, stable and safe lighting effects. To meet these needs, we chose AMS OSRAM's SFH 4726AS LED light source. "As scanning devices become more intelligent and lightweight, a small, high-power infrared light source like AMS OSram is ideal."
