DELO introduces new structural adhesives that offer four times greater temperature stability than comparable products

     DELO presents a highly temperature-stable adhesive, DELO MONOPOX HT2999, with a strength of 20 MPa at 180 °C. This means it is four times stronger than its predecessor. This product is mainly developed for the needs of the automotive industry and mechanical engineering. Electric motors and power electronic equipment have high requirements for the temperature resistance of adhesives. The performance of many products on the market declines significantly after the temperature exceeds 150 °C. DELO's new structural adhesives can be used at temperatures above this.

     Its performance configuration is optimized for magnet bonding in electric motors. For example, the bonded magnet (Ndfeb magnet) has a compressive shear strength of 20 MPa at 180 °C, and the joint can maintain long-term temperature stability. Even after 1000 hours of storage at 180 °C, the tensile strength can still reach 20 MPa. The maximum operating temperature of electric motors is usually 180 °C, and if the temperature is higher, the magnetic degradation of high-performance rare earth magnets will occur. In some specific applications, where temperature resistance is required, the DELO MONOPOX HT2999 can be used even at temperatures up to 220 °C.

     Electrical insulation is another important property of this adhesive. It can minimize the eddy current in electric motors, reduce heat generation, and improve motor performance. The DELO MONOPOX HT2999 provides additional space to ensure that the ultra-thin and neat 50 µm bonding gap is maintained when the magnets are stacked. This allows for the use of more magnetic materials and increases the efficiency of electric motors.

     This one-component epoxy resin is grey paste. It takes only 10 minutes to cure in an air circulation oven at 150°C. Other high temperature adhesives require a curing time of 30 to 40 minutes at 150 °C. In contrast, this new product has obvious advantages in terms of energy efficiency.
