Development Kit for AS6031 & AS6040

     ScioSense announced a new development kit to accelerate the development of its latest AS6031 and AS6040 Ultrasonic Flow Sensors (UFC) for utility metering and beyond. The new development tools include general-purpose or dedicated microcontroller boards, and evaluation software that provides an intuitive graphical interface (GUI) for sensor configuration and measurement output display.

     In a system consisting of ultrasonic transducers and pipe sections, the AS6031 and AS6040 UFC can precisely measure the time of flight and convert it to the flow rate of a gas or liquid. The UFC evaluation software included with the ScioSense Evaluation Kit provides an easy-to-use framework for sensor configuration and segment setup, allowing developers to quickly obtain sensor flow data by simply powering up the sensor evaluation board and display the results in graphical or numerical format .

     Developers can also choose to use a wizard program to guide them through setup. Data can also be exported for subsequent data analysis in other tools.

     The UFC evaluation software is provided free of charge with any of the evaluation boards for the AS6031 and AS6040. The standalone evaluation kits AS6031-QF_DK and AS6040-QF_DK include a PICOPROG USB programming interface and data lines. ScioSense also offers Nucleo shields (demo boards) that are compatible with any microcontroller family. The AS6031-QF_NUC and AS6040-QF_NUC boards provide example code to communicate with STM32 or UnicMicro (Guangxin Micro) UM321X microcontrollers, including library files for configuration download, initialization and data reading.

     The AS6040 and AS6031 Ultrasonic Flow Sensors integrate a 32-bit CPU core and include all the functions needed to drive an external transducer to convert ultrasonic time-of-flight measurements into flow calculations. These sensors are known for their low power consumption, high accuracy and high sensitivity.
