Dialog Semiconductor, a leading provider of battery and power management, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), and industrial edge computing solutions, recently announced the launch of the AT25EU series of SPI NOR Flash devices for power-conscious, size-constrained networking Device development. The AT25EU series is focused on achieving the lowest power consumption and fastest operating speed, resulting in the lowest energy consumption.
Compared with existing SPI NOR Flash solutions, the biggest differentiating feature of the AT25EU series is the lower total power consumption without compromising performance. This family of products offers industry-leading low-power high-speed read operations and significantly faster erase times with only minimal power consumption.
For example, the 2Mbit AT25EU0021A can perform an entire chip erase in less than 10ms, while consuming less than 1% of the power required by competing solutions. Competing scenarios can take a full 1 second or more to perform the same operation. Achieving faster, lower-power erase operations can improve the efficiency of device software over-the-air updates (OTA), event tracking, data logging activities, and more.
Raphael Mehrbians, vice president of Dialog Semiconductor's Industry Standardized Products (ASSP) business unit, said: "The breakthrough low power consumption and high performance achieved by the SPI NOR Flash family confirms Dialog's commitment to improving IoT device performance while reducing power consumption and cost. "This family of Flash devices with the industry's lowest power consumption complements Dialog's already excellent portfolio of ultra-low power BLE, Wi-Fi and GreenPAK."
The ultra-low-power Flash memory family also offers a rich set of power-saving features, including wide Vcc (1.65V to 3.6V) operation to extend battery life, and 100 to 300nA deep power-down mode to save power when the product is not in use.
Excellent erase times, combined with low-power high-speed operation, will greatly reduce the total power consumed in any system. This makes this family of flash memory devices ideal for helping extend the runtime of small battery-powered IoT devices.
The AT25EU family of devices will initially be available in 1Mbit and 2Mbit configurations, with sampling planned for the second quarter of 2021. The series also plans to launch devices with a density of up to 16Mbits in the future.
