Dialog Semiconductor, a leading supplier of battery management, AC/DC power conversion, Wi Fi, low-power Bluetooth (BLE), and industrial IC solutions, recently announced the launch of a new highly efficient, high current, automotive grade, step-down DC-DC (Buck) converter DA914X-A product series.
The DA914X-A device provides an unprecedented current level of up to 40A. Compared with power supply products that require both power controller and discrete FET, the DA914X-A is a significantly better alternative. The DA914X-A series integrates the power FET and all required control logic into a highly integrated and efficient single chip. Only a few external components are required to operate, thus realizing extremely low system BOM cost and scheme size less than 170 mm2. This series of devices has extremely high energy efficiency, reducing the heat dissipation challenge when supplying high current for complex vehicle SoC. This makes the product line very suitable for powering graphics or AI embedded processors in machine learning and vision applications of the next generation of autonomous vehicles.
The DA914X-A series currently includes two devices. The DA9141-A is a single channel, four phase step-down converter that can provide an output current of up to 40A. The DA9142-A is a single channel, two-phase step-down converter that can provide an output current of up to 20A. The input voltage range of all devices is 2.8 V to 5.5 V, and the output voltage range is 0.3 V to 1.3 V, so it is suitable for various low power consumption systems.
