Dialog expands its automotive PMIC portfolio with the latest series of high-current DC-DC buck converters

Dialog Semiconductor Corporation today announced the launch of the DA913X-A product family of high-efficiency, high-current automotive step-down DC-DC (step-down) converters. The highly integrated DA913X-A series devices require fewer external components than competing solutions, enabling lower BOM costs and smaller solution sizes. With an operating efficiency of more than 90%, this family of devices can reduce the thermal challenges of high-current power supply in many automotive system designs, including in-vehicle infotainment systems, navigation systems, telemetry, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and more.

The DA913X-A series consists of three devices configured as single or dual output buck converters. The DA9130-A is A single-channel, dual-phase buck converter offering up to 10 A output current. The DA9131-A integrates two single-phase buck converters, each providing up to 5 A output current. The DA9132-A also integrates two single-phase buck converters, each providing up to 3 A output current. All devices in this family have input voltage ranges from 2.5V to 5.5V and output voltage ranges from 0.3V to 1.9V, making them suitable for a wide range of low-voltage systems. If the output voltage exceeds 1.9V, an external resistor divider can be connected.

The DA913X-A product family has a set of key features that meet the needs of today's complex automotive electronics systems:

● Remote sensing ensures the highest accuracy and supports a wide range of PCB routing scenarios without sacrificing performance.

● Fully programmable soft start limits inrush current at the input to provide slope-controlled output voltage.

● Dynamic Voltage Control (DVC) adaptively adjusts the power supply voltage according to the load. When the downstream circuit goes into low power or standby mode, this can increase efficiency and thus save power.

● Configurable GPIO support includes a range of features such as I2C, DVC and Power Good indicator.

● Optimized BOM cost and size: only one very small inductor and capacitor per output.

The DA913X-A series devices are all AEC-Q100 Level 2 certified and are available in a 3.3mm x 4.8mm 24-pin Wettable FC-QFN package. The series of industrial/commercial grade devices are also available.
