Dialog Semiconductor, a leading provider of battery and power management, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE), and industrial edge computing solutions, announced the introduction of the AT25EU family of SPI NOR Flash devices to support the development of power-focused, size-constrained connected devices. The AT25EU series is focused on achieving the lowest power consumption and the fastest operating speed, thus achieving the lowest energy consumption.
The biggest differentiating feature of the AT25EU series compared to existing SPI NOR Flash solutions is the lower total energy consumption achieved without compromising performance. The family offers industry-leading low-power, high-speed read operations and significantly faster erase times with only tiny power consumption.
For example, the 2Mbit AT25EU0021A can perform an entire chip erase in less than 10ms, while consuming less than 1% of the power required by competing schemes. Competing schemes may take a full second or more to perform the same operation. Faster, lower power erase operations can improve the efficiency of the device's software over-the-air update (OTA), event tracking, data logging activities and other functions.
Raphael Mehrbians, Vice President of the Industrial Standardized Products (ASSP) business Unit at Dialog Semiconductors, said: "The breakthrough low power consumption and high performance achieved by the SPI NOR Flash family of products demonstrates Dialog's commitment to improving the performance of IoT devices while reducing power consumption and cost. This family of Flash devices with the lowest power consumption in the industry complements Dialog's already excellent portfolio of ultra-low power BLE, Wi-Fi and GreenPAK."
The ultra-low power Flash memory family also offers a rich set of energy-saving features, including wide Vcc (1.65V to 3.6V) operation to extend battery life, and 100 to 300nA deep power down mode to save power when the product is not in use.Excellent erasure times, combined with low power consumption and high speed operation, will significantly reduce the total electrical energy consumed in any system. This makes this family of flash devices ideal for helping to extend the uptime of small, battery-powered IoT devices.
