Dialog introduces LDO regulators with lowest absolute noise and highest power rejection ratio performance

Dialog Semiconductor Corporation announced the launch of its latest configurable mixed-signal IC (CMIC) product, the SLG51000, offering industry-leading low-voltage differential linear (LDO) regulator performance. The SLG51000 has the highest power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) and lowest output voltage noise compared to any programmable multichannel LDO on the market, making it an ideal power choice for high-end camera and sensor systems.

     Dialog Semiconductor Corporation announced the launch of its latest configurable mixed-signal IC (CMIC) product, the SLG51000, offering industry-leading low-voltage differential linear (LDO) regulator performance. The SLG51000 has the highest power supply rejection ratio (PSRR) and lowest output voltage noise compared to any programmable multichannel LDO on the market, making it an ideal power choice for high-end camera and sensor systems.

 

     System power designers face strict noise limits when designing advanced sensor systems or high-end camera modules. Consumers demand the highest quality images from smartphones, digital cameras or other smart imaging devices. Compared to existing solutions on the market, the SLG51000 exceeds the power performance requirements for such applications. The output voltage noise of existing solutions on the market is significantly higher and the PSRR is relatively low, especially at high frequencies.

 

     John McDonald, vice President of Marketing for Dialog Semiconductor's Configurable Mixed Signal Business unit, said: "The SLG51000 launched today is a successful demonstration of our CMIC design capabilities following the acquisition of Silego Technology.      The SLG51000's leading technical specifications place it at the forefront of imaging and sensor power solutions. It offers an industry-leading 73dB power rejection ratio (PSRR) @ 1MHz with a minimum output voltage noise of 10 µV (rms). Each of the seven channels of the LDO regulator provides an output current capability of 475mA to 800mA, with a static current of less than 1µA for the entire integrated circuit (IC) during shutdown. The small size of the integrated power solution saves board space, while configurable output voltage Settings, timing, and resources meet multiple project needs, reducing engineers' time to redesign, procure components, and certify designs.

 

     With the SLG51000, engineers can create a variety of functional and control logic for applications, such as customized power timing, fault signals, input conditioning, and gluing logic. All of these features can be configured graphically through the IC's unique GUI-based development software, making it very simple to adopt the SLG51000 in product development.

 

     McDonald concluded: "As camera performance becomes one of the key differentiators for high-end smartphones, device manufacturers need to deliver the absolute best image quality through image sensors in increasingly compact devices, and therefore face tighter noise constraints. The SLG51000 leads the way in meeting noise limits and offers the best LDO performance on the market for imaging and sensor applications."
