Digi International launched Digi XBee LR module to facilitate LoRaWAN connection for Internet of Things deployment

     Digi International released the Digi XBee LR module, which is the first XBee level pre integrated and pre certified wireless communication module and is applicable to sensors and terminal nodes using LoRaWAN. With the rich connection, device and gateway management functions of Digi X-ON, a low-power wide area (LPWA) IoT data cloud platform, Digi can provide IoT solutions with automatic configuration and deployment, help enterprises obtain significant return on investment and accelerate product launch

     The Digi XBee LR module brings new connectivity options to a widely used wireless IoT module that has deployed more than 20 million devices. This fully developed, tested, and certified module enables original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to freely create innovative public or private cloud solutions for organizations in agriculture, energy, logistics, manufacturing, utilities, and other industries. These applications include precision irrigation, building automation, remote monitoring asset tracking, utility metering, etc.

     The support for LoRaWAN protocol enables Digi XBee LR to support cloud connectivity through Digi and non Digi LoRaWAN gateways and LoRaWAN network server cloud tools. The first shipment of this product will adopt MMT overall dimensions and provide SMT and TH versions. The main features of Digi XBee LR include:

● Pre certification – modular certification for FCC, IC and CE standards.
● LoRaWAN compatibility – supports low-power, long-distance WAN protocols based on LoRa radio modulation technology.
● Size versatility – integrated with existing hardware in MMT, SMT and TH sizes, with a power consumption of 600nA.
● Zero contact configuration – use Digi X-ON cloud to remotely configure and maintain equipment embedded in Digi XBee LR.
● Single SKU – One module supports multiple regional frequency bands, including US915, EU868, AS923, etc.
